We are blessed to live in a time when we can be a taxi driver, a delivery person and a paid blogger at the tap of an animated button on a cellular phone! As someone who has dabbled in Lyft and Uber driving and Doordash delivery, I occasionally think about how amazing it is that the average person today has access to all of the exciting opportunities! I am old enough to remember a time when in order to deliver a pizza, you had to submit an application for review at your local Domino’s or Pizza Hut and hope that you managed to get hired. Likewise, in order to drive a taxi you also had to fill out an application and be hired, whereas now any person who has access to the internet can signup via the Uber or Lyft driver apps and go through the simple process of signing up to become a taxi person. Of course with each new advancement comes its own challenges.

Imagine too how with slight pressure applied to a gas pedal in a car, we can accelerate hundreds of feet forward at will when over a hundred years ago horses and carriages would struggle to cover the same distance with even three times the effort! We can hear the voices of our favorite dead musicians echoing in our ears because of an invisable electrical connection in a mobile rectangle that transmits signals to a device in our ears any time we want. How often do we overlook these facts of our lives? How often do we forget how amazing each of these things are? Now we have Instawork and Gigsmart-apps which can instanteously connect us to work opportunities worth decent chunks of money. There are many reasons to be depressed but also many reasons to be impressed!
